Proof of address rejected? Check the request before resubmitting
A rejected document or a household bill can leave you unsure what to send next. Turn the uncertainty into a focused checklist and a clear message to support.
01 / Your starting point
What needs clarification?
This is a self-check of the request, not a document validator. Choose “I am not sure” whenever needed.
The interactive checklist needs JavaScript. The static checklist and general enquiry below remain available without it.

This proof-of-address worksheet is not itself proof of address. Printing it does not replace an original certificate or bank document.
A checklist you can use without the tool
- Keep the exact document request and rejection wording.
- Confirm whether the check concerns identity, address or payment ownership.
- Ask about the issuer, document type, date range, visible fields and original format.
- Compare names and address categories privately. Correct records through their proper process.
- Ask what must remain visible before masking anything. Use the verified secure submission channel.
General proof-of-address enquiry template
Subject: Clarification of proof-of-address requirements Hello, I am asking about the address-verification request [request reference and date]. The request or rejection wording is [copy the exact wording privately]. The document I have, or am considering, is [document type and issuer, or explain that no suitable document is identified]. Please clarify: 1. Which document types and issuers can meet this specific address requirement? Please give the relevant written criteria. 2. Please identify the exact unmet requirement or confirm the requirements before I submit. Is the check for identity, residential address, payment ownership or another purpose? 3. What must remain visible, and is any masking explicitly permitted? Please confirm the secure submission channel. I will not attach documents to this initial enquiry. Please link your response to the original request and confirm the requirements before I submit further documents. I have not attached identity, address or banking documents to this initial enquiry. Thank you, [Name — add in your own message]
How the checklist helps
Three situations, three different questions.
The bill is in a partner’s name
Ask what alternative links you to the address. Sharing a home does not automatically make another person’s bill sufficient.

Please identify the exact unmet requirement or confirm the requirements before I submit. Is the check for identity, residential address, payment ownership or another purpose? 3. What genuine supporting evidence or account-correction process applies to the difference between the account and document names? 4. What must remain visible, and is any masking explicitly permitted? The statement has an old address
Clarify which record is out of date and how its issuer or account provider corrects it. Do not edit the statement.

Which address field did not match, and which address category do you require? If my account or issuer record is out of date, what is the proper correction process? 3. An official certificate was rejected
Separate what the certificate attests to from what the recipient needs. A registered address may not answer a request about current residence.

Hypothetical examples, not accounts tested by WagerSift or reasons established for your document.
No utility bill in your own name?
If you live with parents or a partner, rent your home, or recently moved, explain that situation privately to the recipient. Ask which alternative issuer and document type it will consider before obtaining more records.
A bank statement or official extract is a question to raise, not a universal replacement. Check whether it contains the required address, what the issuer is certifying and whether the recipient accepts that original format.
Method & evidence
Document scope is not an acceptance decision.
The proof-of-address checklist keeps your reported objection, document type, name comparison and address category separate. Inconsistent selections prompt a clarification. It does not inspect files, estimate approval chances or assign a universal document-age limit.
For example, MuchBetter’s own help page lists a three-month document-age limit, address matching and specific exclusions. That is a named wallet policy, not a rule for every casino. This tool asks you to obtain the criteria for your actual recipient.
Country options only select source context. They do not establish casino availability, local authorisation or document acceptance. The Ireland option adds one named operator’s published list, the Canada option points to the Canadian examples in our verification guide, the Poland and Norway examples explain issuer scope, and the other-country option makes no country-specific acceptance claim.
Never alter evidence or assume that transactions, account details or sensitive fields may be hidden. Confirm any permitted masking with the recipient. A downloadable worksheet is an enquiry aid, not a substitute for original evidence.
Method and sources checked . A source’s own edition or publication date may be earlier.
- MuchBetter: address verification (named wallet example)
MuchBetter describes its own address matching, document and submission requirements. Its rules, including document age and exclusions, are not a standard for every casino or wallet.
- William Hill: Republic of Ireland verification FAQ (named operator example)
One operator’s Irish instructions: an alternative route with two address documents dated within six months, including an insurance policy or a Revenue or Department of State document. Not a rule for other casinos. Read on 27 September 2026.
- Gov.pl: Polish identity-card information
The listed fields for modern Polish identity cards do not include an address. Older card versions differ. Identity evidence is not automatically evidence of current residence.
- Gov.pl: your PESEL record and certificate
A full or selected extract from PESEL, Poland’s national population register, can include residence-registration data. The service distinguishes its electronically sealed original from a printout. This does not establish recipient acceptance or equate registration with current residence.
- Skatteetaten: residence-certificate scope
The current-path Folkeregister handbook, labelled 2025, describes a bostedsattest as evidence of registered residence and registration duration/date. It does not require a private recipient to accept it.
- Skatteetaten: registered address categories
The handbook distinguishes registered residence, postal and contact address categories. This is Norwegian register terminology, not a diagnosis of an individual rejection.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as proof of address?
Usually a recent document from a third party, such as a utility bill, bank statement or official letter, that shows your name and home address. Each recipient decides which issuers, dates and formats it accepts, so ask before sending.

Link to this answerCan I use a bill in my partner’s or parent’s name as proof of address?
Not automatically. Sharing a home does not automatically make another person’s bill sufficient. Explain your situation privately to the recipient and ask which alternative issuer and document type it will consider.

Link to this answerCan a bank statement replace a utility bill as proof of address?
Sometimes, but not universally. A bank statement or official extract is a question to raise, not a universal replacement. Check whether it shows the required address and whether the recipient accepts that original format.

Link to this answerIs there one maximum age for a proof-of-address document?
No universal limit applies. MuchBetter’s own help page lists a three-month limit, but that is a named wallet policy, not a rule for every casino. Ask your actual recipient for its criteria.

Link to this answerDoes the checklist check or approve my document?
No. It has no file upload, camera access or free-text personal fields, and it does not inspect files or estimate approval chances. The receiving organisation applies its own requirements.
