The short answer
What happens to your balance when you close a casino account?
That depends on the order of steps, so withdraw everything first and ask for closure only once the money has arrived. Wintino and AquaSpins void all funds on an account closed with a balance or pending withdrawal, and TuffPuff, Winshark and Slots Vader contradict themselves on whether a balance blocks closure.
Read the evidence and limitations ↓Withdraw first, close second
The safest order is the same at every operator: request a withdrawal of the whole balance, wait until it reaches your bank or wallet, and only then ask for closure in writing. Under some terms, a closure request that arrives first can cost you the balance.
For example, under Wintino’s clause 3.7, EUR 50 left on an account with no withdrawal pending would be voided if the closure request arrived before the money was withdrawn. The same clause voids the funds when a withdrawal is still pending, so wait for the payment to arrive, not just for the request to be approved.
How seven casinos handle a closure request
From seven operators’ general terms, read on (PlayBaze, Wintino and AquaSpins) and (TuffPuff, Winshark, Slots Vader and Rivo):
| Operator | How you ask | Money left in the account | Clause |
|---|---|---|---|
| PlayBaze | Email from your registered address | The whole balance can be withdrawn on closure, even below the EUR 10 minimum; withdrawals from a closed or locked account go through customer service | 6.11, 8.1, 8.5 |
| Wintino and AquaSpins | Email to customer support | Closure only with no balance and no pending withdrawal; otherwise all funds on the account are voided | 3.7 |
| TuffPuff and Winshark | Email from your registered address; the account closes for an indefinite period | Clause 7.3 allows closure only with no balance and no withdrawal in progress; clause 14.8 says the full balance is paid out unless illegal activity is suspected | 7.1, 7.3, 14.8 |
| Slots Vader | Email from your registered address | The same clause 7.3; clauses 14.5 and 14.9 say the balance is paid out, and clause 14.3 refers to a procedure in “paragraph 7.6”, which the terms do not contain | 7.1, 7.3, 14.3, 14.5, 14.9 |
| Rivo | Live chat, giving a reason and a timeframe, after any open bets are cancelled | Rivo decides how the balance is repaid; a permanent closure lasts 30 days, after which you can ask to reactivate the account | 3.5.1, 3.5.2, 3.5.3 |
When the terms contradict themselves
TuffPuff, Winshark and Slots Vader each contain both rules: one clause allows closure only with an empty balance, another promises a full payout on closure. Do not test the conflict by closing first. Withdraw the balance, then quote both clauses in your closure request and ask the casino to confirm in writing that nothing remains.
Slots Vader adds a third problem: clause 14.3 returns funds only after a verification procedure “by paragraph 7.6”, a clause its terms do not contain. Ask which procedure applies before you rely on it.
When the casino closes the account
An operator closure follows different rules. PlayBaze can close or suspend an account without notice and return all funds (clause 6.4), but if it closes the account because you broke its terms, it may void bets and withhold the money, including the deposit (clause 6.3). Rivo refunds the balance after “relevant charges” (clause 3.5.4).
TuffPuff and Winshark can withhold funds during or after a closure if there is a debt, or a suspicion of collusion, fraud or money laundering (clause 14.2), and treat the balance as non-refundable after a closure for fraud, collusion or a breach of the terms (clause 14.5). Our guide to when a casino can keep your winnings sets out the other grounds.
Closing an account to stop gambling
If you are closing the account to stop gambling, say so, and do not delay the request to get a withdrawal through first; ask for the balance in the same message. Rivo asks to be told when the reason is concern about gambling addiction (clause 3.5.1). At TuffPuff, Winshark and Slots Vader, closing for that reason also bars you from the partner sites named in the casino’s licence (clause 7.4).
A break or self-exclusion may suit you better than closure, and it treats pending withdrawals differently; our guide to breaks, self-exclusion and pending withdrawals compares the tools.
Reopening a closed account
Rivo lets you request reactivation through live chat or email once a 30-day permanent closure has ended (clause 3.5.2). TuffPuff and Winshark say they can reopen an account on request in some cases, under the terms in force at the time and without earlier bonuses or contingent winnings (clause 14.3).
A closure checklist
- Withdraw the full balance and wait until it arrives.
- Check that no withdrawal is pending and no bet or bonus is still open.
- Send the request from your registered email address, or through the channel the terms name.
- Quote the closure clauses and ask for written confirmation that the balance is zero and the account closed.
- Keep the confirmation, your transaction history and the version of the terms you read.
An account left open but unused is not a safe alternative: at five of the seven operators it can be charged an inactivity fee, as our guide to dormant accounts explains.

Frequently asked questions
Can I close a casino account with money in it?
You can ask, but the money may be at risk. Wintino and AquaSpins void all funds on an account closed with a balance or pending withdrawal (clause 3.7), and TuffPuff, Winshark and Slots Vader allow closure only with nothing left, although other clauses promise a payout. Withdraw first.

It depends on the reason. PlayBaze can close an account without notice and return all funds (clause 6.4), but may withhold the money, deposit included, if you broke its terms (clause 6.3). Rivo refunds the balance after relevant charges (clause 3.5.4), and TuffPuff and Winshark keep it after a closure for fraud (clause 14.5).

Link to this answerShould I withdraw before closing a casino account?
Yes. Request the withdrawal, wait until it reaches your bank or wallet, and only then ask for closure in writing. Under Wintino’s terms, for example, EUR 50 still on the account when the closure request arrives would be voided under clause 3.7.
Link to this answerHow long does a casino account closure last?
At Rivo, a permanent closure lasts 30 days, after which you can ask support to reactivate the account (clause 3.5.2). TuffPuff, Winshark and Slots Vader describe closure by email as being for an indefinite period (clause 7.1). Ask for written confirmation either way.
Link to this answerCan I reopen a closed casino account?
Sometimes. Rivo lets you request reactivation through live chat or email once a 30-day closure ends (clause 3.5.2), and TuffPuff and Winshark say they can reopen an account on request in some cases (clause 14.3). After a closure because of gambling problems, TuffPuff, Winshark and Slots Vader expect you never to open a new account (clause 7.2).
