The short answer

Can you withdraw a casino deposit you haven’t played?

Not freely. All seven operators whose terms we read attach a condition to deposited money: it must be bet once, or three times at TuffPuff, Winshark and Slots Vader, or the withdrawal can be refused or charged 8% to 15%. A refund is a separate route, usually only within 24 hours and before any bet.

Read the evidence and limitations ↓

Refund, withdrawal and rollover are different routes

Money you deposited but did not bet can come back in two ways, and a third rule decides how much of it. A refund reverses the deposit, usually only soon after it was made and before any bet. A withdrawal pays the money out like winnings, under the ordinary withdrawal rules. A deposit rollover rule says how much of the deposit must be bet before a withdrawal is free of charges.

The rollover rule applies even if you decline every bonus. Operators usually present it as an anti-money-laundering measure: it stops a casino account being used to move money without playing. It is separate from bonus wagering, which our wagering requirements guide explains.

Deposit rollover in seven operators’ terms

Seven operators’ general terms, read on (PlayBaze, Wintino and AquaSpins) and (the others), handle deposited money in five ways:

Deposit rollover in published general terms: threshold, consequence and clause
OperatorThresholdIf it is not metClause
PlayBazeThe deposit wagered onceAn 8% fee, at least EUR 4; the clause does not say what the 8% is calculated on8.2
Wintino and AquaSpinsThe deposit wagered onceWinnings may be cancelled and 10% of the last deposit kept (at least EUR 0.50 or USD 0.50), or 15% after a card or bank-transfer deposit6.8
TuffPuff and WinsharkBets of three times the depositUp to 10% of the withdrawal withheld, or the request refused; a deposit never played is not paid out at all8.7, 9.3
Slots VaderBets of three times the depositUp to 15% of the withdrawal withheld, or the request refused with a 15% charge; a deposit never played is not paid out8.8, 9.3
RivoBets at least equal to the last deposit, and the first deposit wagered onceThe withdrawal can be refused; no deduction is stated6.5

The anti-money-laundering sections of the TuffPuff, Winshark and Slots Vader terms go further than clause 9.3: three deposit amounts must have been bet before any withdrawal. Ask which of the two rules the finance team applies before you request one.

What a deduction costs: worked examples

The threshold and the base of the charge both matter. If PlayBaze’s 8% were calculated on an unplayed EUR 20 deposit, it would come to EUR 1.60, so the EUR 4 minimum would apply instead and EUR 16 would come back. On the same deposit, Wintino’s 10% of the last deposit would be EUR 2, or EUR 3 at the 15% rate after a card or bank-transfer deposit.

For example, after a EUR 100 deposit at TuffPuff, bets from the real balance would need to reach EUR 300 before clause 9.3 stops applying, and a EUR 150 withdrawal before then could lose up to EUR 15. At Slots Vader, a EUR 50 deposit needs EUR 150 of bets, so withdrawing EUR 100 after EUR 80 of bets could cost up to EUR 15.

None of these rules says the charge falls if you keep playing. The charge is capped at a stated percentage; the losses from extra bets are not.

Asking for a refund instead

A refund avoids the rollover rule, but only some terms offer one, and the windows are short.

Other rules on deposited money

  • A monthly minimum. Wintino and AquaSpins can decline a withdrawal if your stakes in that calendar month stayed under EUR 20 (clause 6.7).
  • Free-spin deposits. At TuffPuff, Winshark and Slots Vader, a deposit made only to receive free spins cannot be withdrawn.
  • No intention to bet. If those three operators believe you never meant to bet, they can hold the money until your identity, age and residence are proven and/or three months have passed since the deposit.
  • The route back. Money normally returns to the deposit method at TuffPuff, Winshark, Slots Vader and PlayBaze (clauses 9.3 and 8.4), and at Rivo only in the currency you bet in and to a method in your own name (clauses 4.4 and 4.7). If you paid by credit card at the first three, money up to the total you deposited can come back as refunds of those card payments (clause 10.3).

If you deposited by mistake

Act before you place a bet. Ask for a refund in writing through the channel the terms name, give the deposit amount, time and reference, and keep the reply. If the refund window has passed, ask support which rule would apply to a withdrawal of the unplayed amount, and what would be deducted, before you request it.

Do not bet just to clear a rollover rule. If you are finding it hard to stop, a break or self-exclusion comes first; our guide to breaks, self-exclusion and pending withdrawals explains what each does to money already in the account.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a refund on a casino deposit I haven’t used?

Sometimes, if you act quickly. TuffPuff, Winshark and Slots Vader consider a refund requested within 24 hours of the deposit and before it is played, paid within 7 working days if approved. Wintino and AquaSpins call refunds exceptional, and Rivo gives none once a game has been played.

Do I have to wager my deposit if I didn’t take a bonus?

Under all seven sets of terms we read, a condition applies to the deposit itself. PlayBaze, Wintino, AquaSpins and Rivo expect it to be bet once; TuffPuff, Winshark and Slots Vader expect bets of three times the deposit before a withdrawal is free of deductions.

How much can a casino keep from an unplayed deposit?

Between nothing stated and 15%. PlayBaze may charge 8% with a EUR 4 minimum; Wintino and AquaSpins may keep 10% of the last deposit, or 15% after a card or bank-transfer deposit; Slots Vader up to 15% of the withdrawal. Rivo can refuse the withdrawal but states no deduction.

What is the 3x deposit rule at a casino?

It is a condition in the TuffPuff, Winshark and Slots Vader terms: bets from the real balance must total three times the deposit before a withdrawal escapes a deduction. Below that, up to 10% (15% at Slots Vader) can be withheld, or the request refused until the wagering is finished.

Can a casino refuse to pay back a deposit I never played?

Yes, under some terms. TuffPuff and Winshark (clause 8.7) and Slots Vader (clause 8.8) reject a request to withdraw money never used in games. If they believe you never meant to bet, they can also hold it until your identity, age and residence are proven or three months have passed.

Evidence and sources

Research basis
The general terms of PlayBaze, Wintino and AquaSpins, read on 27 September 2026, and of TuffPuff, Winshark, Slots Vader and Rivo, read on 3 October 2026 from full copies of their terms pages. The deduction examples are arithmetic from the clauses, and invented amounts are labelled as examples.
What this does not establish
The clauses do not show how a deduction is worked out on an account, and PlayBaze’s clause does not say what its 8% is calculated on. No deposit, refund or withdrawal was tested.
